145. Launch of Herb Connect! And Preparing for a Paradigm Shift: Naomi Ingleton on Herbal Education
Manage episode 501867897 series 3611679
Today is an exciting day for the Australian herbal community, as Naomi Ingleton launches Herb Connect, an online marketplace and hub to connect herb growers to apothecaries, medicine makers, practitioners and anyone wanting fresh vital potent Australian herbs!
Naomi Ingleton is herb farmer and educator who’s spent her life working with food and plants. After years in hospitality, food production, and business advisory, she’s come full circle to her roots — founding The Farmacy Collective and Herb Connect to support farmers, share her love of medicinal plants, and inspire communities to grow and use herbs for food, health, and connection.Herb Connect — a platform that links Australian herb growers large and small with buyers who want fresh, local, and trusted herbs.
Naomi started Herb Connect to support farmers with diverse income streams and to give consumers access to herbs with real provenance, not imports of unknown origin. It is at the tender beginning- Naomi has developed the framework but what we need is for all the small, medium and large scale growers to sign up and start selling their fresh/freshly dried herbs.
This is not a space for herbal preps such as tinctures/infused oils/salves- it is purely for fresh material. Farmers/Growers can list their herbs and can have a bio so that you know exactly who you are buying from. And then the practitioners/medicine makers/retail outlets can also put up their 'wants' to give the farmers more direction in what to grow.
The website will also be a hub, linking herb farmers to mentorship and other support. There is a real momentum happening, for Australia to become more self sufficient in our herb supply, and it's a momentum that The Elder Tree is really backing this momentum, and forming alliances with people like Naomi Ingleton is a wonderful way to actualise this momentum.
