Legal experts view this strategy as a high-risk attempt to introduce reasonable doubt, especially given the substantial evidence against Kohberger, including DNA found on a knife sheath at the crime scene and surveillance footage of his vehicle near the victims' residence. A hearing to assess the validity of the alternate suspect theory is scheduled for June 18, with the trial set to commence on August 11, 2025 .
