Watson leaves Holmes at home and goes to see Miss Morstan to tell her of their developments.When he gets home, Holmes is in his room, and their Landlord tells him that Holmes has done nothing but pace back and forth the whole afternoon. Throughout the whole night Holmes paces around the room, and during the following day Holmes spends his time mixing chemicals together. The next morning Watson is startled when he wakes to see Holmes at his bedside dressed in a sailors jacket. Holmes says that Watson is to take over the Baker Street Office while he is out. Watson tries to distract himself throughout the day, but he struggles to think of anything but the case. Suddenly the detective Anthenly Jones arrives and says that Holmes told him to come. The two exchange some small talk, and then hear a knock at the door and an old wheezing breath. An old man enters the room asking for Sherlock Holmes. The man says that he can only talk to Holmes but that he has information about the case. The two men stop the old man from leaving and tell him to wait for Holmes to come back. After a few more minutes small talk, Holmes reveals himself to be disguised at the old man. and says that they will capture the men tonight.
