Should Christians stop dying to themselves? Yes, and here’s why…

What if I told you that dying to self – the whole “deny yourself daily” routine – is not only unnecessary but downright counterproductive?

Here’s the mind-blowing truth: You’ve already died. Your old self was crucified with Christ. Jesus didn’t just die for your sins – He included you in that death. And guess what? He didn’t leave you in the tomb. He raised you to life, with a brand-new, righteous heart, and His Spirit who is always with you.

This is the forgotten half of the Gospel that changes everything. The new you? You’re not a slave to sin or a daily mourner of the old self. The flesh? Just leftover “stinking thinking” and not your true identity.

Want to truly grasp how this all works? Click to watch, and you’ll never see sin – or temptation – the same way again. This message is the good news you’ve been waiting for!

Discussion Questions:
  1. What are the true “riches” in Christ Jesus?
  2. React to this statement: You are always in the Spirit.
  3. Why does your death with Jesus matter when it comes to temptation?
  4. React to this statement: The flesh is leftover “stinking thinking.” It’s not who you are!
  5. Why do you think so many religious leaders teach Christians to kill themselves daily?
  6. How is the Gospel more beautiful and healthier than that morbid religiosity?
  7. What do your own death and resurrection mean for your spiritual heart?
  8. React to this statement: You are a slave of righteousness.
