It’s getting hot out there, so in today’s episode we’re going to discuss different types of heat illnesses/injuries, what they look like, and what to do if you encounter them. We’re also going to cover some information on how to avoid getting yourself into a heat-related predicament. Toward the end, we’ll also briefly covered an attempted robbery out of Texas at a truck stop where a security guard was shot in the arm.

Well, it's been quite a while since her last episode, but as we're all aware can get in the way lol. Episode 11, report writing part 2 is now live on anchor, Apple podcast, and anywhere else that you can find podcasts. In today's episode, we'll be discussing more report writing aspects such as phrasing, methods to articulate crimes in reports, as well as good ways to describe injuries. Here in northern California, we have been extremely busy at the company I work for due to the fires, during which we provide a lot of extra security services for the local areas. Hoping to get back on a regular publishing schedule soon, but it may be winter before that happens! *** Thanks for listening! Spread the word to friends, family, and co-workers. In today’s episode, part 1 of a 2 or more part report writing series, we go over the essential parts of report writing: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How. I also discuss the proper way to document descriptions. In the next report writing episode, I’ll go more in depth to report structure, as well as how to describe and document injuries. I’ve also included an update at the beginning of the episode about the shooting from a few weeks ago where a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy shot and killed an alleged “security guard” and some new, if few, details. *** Thanks for listening! In today’s episode, we’re going to discuss some basic tips and ways of thinking to help verbally de-escalate a situation (when that is a viable option). A lot of people get into security, receive the minimal training in regard to law knowledge, and that’s it. I like to educate myself (as well as the guards I lead) in the laws pertinent to our function as security. In this episode, I go over a short list of laws which I believe are important for every guard out there to know. Please keep in mind; however, these laws are specific to California. While they may be similar to other states, you are advised to do your research into your state laws, even those of you in California, as laws are constantly changing. I am not a lawyer and am not providing legal advice, I am simply reviewing several code sections from the California Penal Code as I feel they pertain to the private security industry in California. If you have any questions about laws in California or other states, I advise you to seek the advice of an attorney. It is imperative as security guards that we know the laws surrounding making private persons arrests, including false imprisonment, kidnapping, and other related law sections. Do your homework on this one! *** Here is an Amazon Affiliate Link for those of you interested in getting a 2020 year Qwik-Code: 2020 California Penal Code Qwik-Code: https://amzn.to/2YxeU4Y *** Thanks for listening! I hope everyone has been staying safe out there. In this episode, I go over some quick points on officer safety as it relates to civil unrest, especially given the current climate we are seeing in the United States. Now, more than ever, we must practice and teach officer safety. Multiple law enforcement officers as well as security officers have been injured and killed during this period of civil unrest. We must watch not only our own backs, but those of our coworkers as well. *** Thanks for listening! Spread the word to friends, family, and co-workers. Hi Folks- We're in a time of great civil unrest. While I generally have a rule of not talking about controversial social topics on the podcast, I simply cannot not address what has happened with the completely unjustified and avoidable death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25th, 2020. I speak briefly on this topic, and plan on making an entire, possibly longer than normal, episode dedicated to the topic. No matter your occupation, stay safe out there. In this episode, I talk about some of the very basics of wearing the uniform. Many of you will find this information to be common knowledge; however, a lot of people aren't taught some of these basic things growing up or even through training. Get in touch and let me know what I should talk about on upcoming episodes by emailing me at guardshackpc@gmail.com. *** Find us on Social Media: https://www.facebook.com/guardshackpc https://www.instagram.com/guardshackpc https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC59AiPik1UHmi7Ou-HMnoqg *** Thanks for listening!
