This Ramadan - I will Elevate my intention Intention is the starting point of everything we do. Having the correct intention and calling it to mind when starting to do a deed, is one of the most important things that a person should strive to attain. Thi*s* is because the acceptance or rejection of deeds is connected to the intention of doing that deed, and the kind of intention we have in mind will have an impact on our spiritual well being. I.e whether our deeds will be accepted or not. This spiritual well-being cannot be attained unless your deeds and efforts are solely for the sake of Allah.(and are done according to the sunnah, which is the second condition of accepting all deeds) The Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Deeds are by intentions, and each person will have but that which he intended.” {Agreed upon.} The truth is our intention can elevate the smallest action we do and increase the quality of our deeds by being more mindful of our actions. Let's think about our day and the daily task we carry out. How about doing them with a new mindset? How about we Intend to do each task for the sake of Allah? As women in the home, we do a lot of house chores daily, and some of us women do get fed up with all the house chores. But when we elevate our intentions, we realise these house chores can be an opportunity to earn reward by doing it solely for the sake of Allah. Other benefits of Elevating Our Intention are: -It helps us focus on the tasks -It helps you develop our taqwa as we are less likely to sin because we become more self-aware. -Makes us more mindful of what we are doing so we can do it better by being more productive and enjoyable. Bearing all these in mind, in Shaa Allah.... This Ramadan, before i begin every activity of mine, i will make the intention of doing it for the sake of Allah. I will try to turn every little action into reward by changing my intention for it. I will make the intention of sleeping in order to gain the energy to do more ibadah. Likewise eating. I will make my house tasks more enjoyable by being mindful of the intention behind them. I will not mind whether my actions get acknowledged by others or not because of the intention behind them. This Ramadan and beyond, I will elevate the intention for every task of mine.
