Co-Host and Ultra-Paddler, Shane Perrin is all set for his 3rd attempt at the 24-hour paddle record to celebrate his 40th birthday. Do you remember the last time you stayed up for 24 hours? It is hard enough keep your eyes open let alone thinking about standing up the entire time. Add water, a SUP board and a world-record attempt is well beyond anything you and I would be willing to attempt. Our mustache loving co-host, Shane Perrin is no slouch when it comes to ultra endurance events having done events like the MR340 and the Everglades Challenge to name just a few in the past. Last year he has even had his go at two world record distance attempts. After learning from those experiences, on November 7-8, he will go after his own record of 101 miles with the hope to start a trend of 24-hour paddle challengers. Although he is not shy of insane physical challenges on a paddle board, this will be Shane's first event under his new nutritional regime. Shane switch to a plant-based diet and has since leaned up, losing 20 pounds and improved his workouts and recovery time. But he has yet to do a grueling endurance challenge while eating more greens. The plan is to paddle 24 hours to go after the world record and then paddle another 24 hours to test his body and nutrition. I think you will enjoy hearing how Shane has prepared for this event and how you can join him if you are in the Austin, Texas area. While you may not ever paddle for 24 hours straight, don't be surprised if you think about it for a second while listening to Episode 13 with Shane Perrin. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN How Shane got started on the 24 hour paddles. His hope to inspire others to go after his records. The difference between multi-day endurance race versus 24-hour record attempts. Why Shane has switch his diet to a plant based diet and why he believes you should find what works for you. The energy product that he will use to stay up in the wee hours of the morning. Why Run Gum was created and how it can help you during your endurance events. Shane's motivation for this years world record attempt.
