You’ve probably heard you “should” be more mindful or start meditating…but what does that even mean?

In this gentle-yet-grounded episode, Suzanne chats with licensed psychotherapist Anna Khandrueva about what mindfulness actually is, how trauma affects our ability to be present, and why most people overthink meditation (and then quit it).

You’ll learn why you don’t need a special pillow, perfect conditions, or a quiet mind to benefit and why brushing your teeth or standing in a supermarket queue might be all the meditation you need.

In this episode we cover:

  • The real difference between mindfulness and meditation (they’re not the same!)

  • Why multitasking is mostly just doing a bunch of things badly

  • How trauma makes it harder to be present (and how mindfulness helps heal it)

  • Simple ways to start practicing, 2 minutes at a time

  • Why your meditation practice doesn’t need to be “perfect” to work

  • Using mindfulness in everyday chaos, like traffic, footy games, or while brushing your teeth

  • The trap of overachieving even in your “self-care”
