The transtheoretical stages of change, also known as the Stages of Change model, is a theoretical framework developed by James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente in the 1980s. The model outlines five stages that individuals typically go through when making a major change in their lives. These stages are: Precontemplation, Contemplation, Preparation, Action, and Maintenance. The Stages of Change model is often used in the field of psychology and healthcare to help individuals make positive changes in their lives.
