I was inspired to make this episode by two things. Firstly, Amy Brown nagging me to interview Mark Williams “because he’s so lovely,” and secondly hearing about the novel NCT Mental Health Peer Support training for new fathers.

This is an important and under-served issue. One of the peer support dads I spoke to, Pete, says, “I’ve never been so lonely as in the first year of fatherhood.” Relationships break down when men’s mental health is suffering, and suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45.
