ADHD in Women - How to Move Beyond Pathology Towards Acceptance, Honoring, and Self-Love

In this episode, I’ll be addressing an often overlooked issue affecting women with ADHD. Many of us unknowingly subject ourselves to daily self-inflicted emotional distress while trying to fit into a world designed for neurotypical individuals. We’ll explore the root causes and discuss how early trauma, especially emotional and verbal abuse, can be just as impactful as more obvious forms of abuse. Our nervous system doesn’t distinguish between external threats and self-criticism, putting us in a constant fight-or-flight response. Instead of forcing ourselves into a neurotypical mold, we should aim to be authentic and enjoy life to maintain a healthy dopamine baseline, crucial for ADHD. Working with our inner critic is essential. Rather than pushing them away, we should engage in a productive dialogue. It may take time, but it’s a necessary step in reducing self-criticism and self-inflicted trauma, allowing us to embrace our unique ADHD traits and lead more fulfilling lives. Please share your thoughts in the comments, and if you’re not already following or subscribing, please do so to stay updated with our discussions. Thank you for tuning in.
