According to a 2023 government report, South Africa has only 60 to 70 veterinarians per million people, far below the international norm of 200 to 400 per million.

One instituton is looking to open a new veterinary science programme to address this shortfall and give prospective students the opportunity to expand their experiental learning in a teaching hospital as well as Paradys Experimental Farm. Our next guest will talk about how this programme will combat challenges like food security, animal welfare, public health & agricultural productivity.
