Remi did not stop speaking Portuguese because she wanted to be able to talk 'codedly' with her family members. She called it 'gossip'. Lol.. She got her first job on a platter of language advantage! There had been no one to fill the role because no one could speak the Portuguese language that was required. She was being paid in dollars - at 18!
