*Topics: Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Assault, Addiction, Suicide*
Host Ruth Brown and special guest Melynda Bettis bring to the studio this week the topic of how we pack our traumas away. As a trauma survivor, Melynda shares how easy it was to pack the trauma experiences away in a box and how important it was to learn to unpack those things we are not meant to store and take up space in our lives. PTSD can occur for many different reasons and in this episode, we explore how intimate partner sexual assault and abuse takes its toll and can even be considered a C-PTSD event. We take a look at one of the other major traumas she experienced as she lived through the rollercoaster of emotions and events her child struggled with in addiction just out of high school. Learning to process and unpack the traumas we encounter in our lives is neccessary, and the supportive community we surround ourselves with is key in trauma recovery.
