Milton Friedman... Economist... Statistician... Author... Speaker... Nobel Prize winner in Economic Sciences and one of the most influential thinkers of our time. My objective today is to introduce you to the brilliance of Mr. Friedman and hopefully open a door for you to dig deeper in his writings and lectures... not just in this episode but I plan on making an entire series revolving around his tv series Free to Choose. He was a strong advocate for free societies to say the least... with plenty of examples and subjects to expand upon to prove that not only are they economically beneficial but morally as well. But today... we will zoom in specifically on his short book written in 1993 Why Government is the Problem. He addresses a wide range of social issues that we see in our society today and throughout history... in our country and all over the world he finds similar patterns among all of them... The pattern of government intervention... not only doesn't solve these problems... but actually makes the problems worse! Today we will BRIEFLY go over the following social issues... lord knows we can spend hours on each... Education... Housing... And our financial system... through the lens of this great mind... And we will answer the question as to... Why is the government the problem? And more importantly... Let's take a look at the late great Milton Friedman's ideas in solving this problem.
