What makes it Detroit-Style? It starts with the crust – deep and thick in composition and yet light and airy in taste. The steel square pans (borrowed from the auto industry) give it a unique shape and one-of-a-kind flavor. The square pans were also unique in that they were made from thick steel, that more closely resembled a cast iron skillet. Besides offering a different shape, the thick steel pans also created a different kind of flavor.

Future retirees in each state need to save well over $1 million to retire comfortably without Social Security benefits, according to a GoBanking Rates study.
In California and Hawaii, retirees must save over $3 million to retire at 60 years old without Social Security.
California
Annual cost of living comfortably: $155,117
Savings needed to retire at 60 (with no Social Security): $3,102,333
Savings needed to retire at 70 (with no Social Security): $1,551,166
Percentage of population 65 years old and older: 15.3%
Louisiana
Annual cost of living comfortably: $67,482
Savings needed to retire at 60 (with no Social Security): $1,349,639
Savings needed to retire at 70 (with no Social Security): $674,820
Percentage of population 65 years old and older: 16.3%
