In this episode, Shannon sits down with Nicole Mikulski, a women’s orthopedic physical therapist and founder of Grace in Motion Physical Therapy. Nicole brings a truly holistic approach to healing, combining mobility work, breathwork, core and pelvic floor rehab, and functional movement training into every personalized plan of care. Her mission is to help women not only recover from injury or life transitions like pregnancy, perimenopause, or post-hysterectomy, but also reconnect with their bodies, build lasting strength, and move through life with more confidence and ease.

Nicole shares her journey from traditional orthopedic PT to building a practice that addresses the unique needs of women-needs that are often overlooked in conventional care. After navigating her own health challenges, including postpartum recovery, hormonal imbalances, and a lack of support from her providers, Nicole realized just how much was missing from the standard approach. This inspired her to create a space where women feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

In this conversation, you’ll hear

  • Why women experience orthopedic issues differently, and how traditional PT often misses the bigger picture
  • The importance of integrating breathwork, core stability, and pelvic floor rehab for full-body healing
  • How hormonal changes, stress, and emotional health impact pain and recovery
  • Nicole’s own story of postpartum healing and why she’s passionate about helping women feel less alone
  • The difference between value-based, cash-pay care and insurance-based models, and why Nicole chose to prioritize her patients’ needs over insurance restrictions
  • How Nicole empowers her clients to become advocates for their own health and healing
  • The life-changing results she’s seen when women are given the time, support, and holistic care they deserve

Nicole also talks about the gaps in women’s health care, the need for more proactive and preventative approaches, and how she’s working to create a movement of empowered, informed women who know they are meant to heal.

Tune in for a heartfelt and practical conversation about what it really takes to recover, rebuild, and thrive at every stage of womanhood.
