About Mildred

If you are seeking inspiration to overcome life's challenges or build a more inclusive culture, my story and experiences offer powerful lessons and guidance.

I’m Mildred J. Mills, author of "Daddy's House," and my journey has taken me from the cotton fields of Alabama to stages and boardrooms around the world, sharing insights on resilience, truth, and belonging.

Growing up as the third of seventeen children on a sixty-acre cotton farm in Wetumpka, Alabama, I learned the meaning of hard work and perseverance early in life. Picking over two hundred pounds of cotton a day wasn't just a chore; it was a testament to the resilience and determination instilled in me by my parents, Abraham and Mildred Billups. This work ethic became the foundation of my professional and personal journey.
