Open Heart - Jan '25

In this episode, Scott is joined by first time guest “Poetic Will” aka Will Douglas from Trenton, NJ. Poetic Will is the founder and curator of Open Heart Poetry. The episode centers on Open Heart Poetry’s 1 Year Anniversary showcase which took place on January 24th, 2025.

The first third of the episode centers on Will’s story of founding OHP and subsequently changing the model from a third space event to an overtly Christian open mic. Will and Scott also breakdown OHP’s meteoric rise over the last year that led the success of the anniversary showcase.

The middle third of the episode focused on the day of the event including the infamous “venue shift” the morning of the show. Afterwards Scott and Will talk through the lineup artist by artist and give flowers to each of the performers.

As the episode comes to a close Scott and Will talk about the future of Open Heart Poetry and Ripe Creative’s event Oracles. We hope you enjoy today’s episode.
