We have a confession to make. Our guest President, taking the reins for this weeks edition of Tony Slattery’s Rambling Club us none other than the legendary Robin Askwith! Come and join us as Robin leads us on a ramble through three special destinations chosen entirely at random with the use of Tony’s enchanted bingo machine. As ever, the omniscient voice of Sir Stephen Fry is on hand to keep a hand on the tightarse of the duck of bullshit.
First stop is destination number 616: Diseases. A jolly one to start with but would you believe our guest president spent almost a year in an Iron Lung as a boy? What influence did that have on his life?
After that number 910 awaits- Geography & Travel. Tales of travel and geography teachers abound along with a glimpse behind the doors of Inside Number 9! It doesn’t take too long for this to wander off course and, before you know it, Leonard Rossiter is playing Hitler in a Brecht piece!
After all that it’s time to head back down the garden path to Tony’s shed, the roaring fire providing welcome relief after possibly our longest ramble yet before President Askwith bids us a fond farewell.
