Camping - loved by some for the fresh air, the night sky and closeness to nature. Hated by those who would rather not sleep among the bugs, be away from their beds and have to forgo a hot shower. But there’s more to this accommodation option than what the stereotypes tell us - camping can be affordable, luxurious, unique and a solution for your future group trip. Camping is not one size fits all! Today we share why every traveler should consider camping for their next trip.
In this episode we break down three types of camping to consider for your next trip:
Trailer and RV

  • Cheaper than hotels and other accomodations
  • Keep your things with you and sleep in your own bed
  • Can rent!

Glamping

  • Bring your luxury bedroom to the outdoors
  • No need to set up camp or have a lot of gear - typically comes with rental
  • More expensive but a nice way to explore outdoor accommodations for those who feel camping is not for them

Rustic Camping (Car Camping)

  • Cheapest way to stay
  • Access nature where RVs can't and hotels require driving
  • Top camping items
    • Quality tent - we like a good sized one for car camping so we can stand up
    • Jetboil or a camp stove
    • Portable sink or wash basin
    • Nature friendly soap (we like Bonner's)
    • Water jug or container (5 gal.)
    • Camp cups and silverware
    • Headlamp, flashlight, lamps
    • Quality cooler - nice it if drains to refresh ice
    • Air mattress or roll out
    • Hatchet
    • Pocket knife
    • First aid kit
    • Back up chargers/batteries
    • Lighter or matches
    • Sandals or easy slip ons
    • Tarp to put under tent or for extra rain protection
    • Toilet paper
    • Hanging shower (if none on site)
    • Camp chairs and foldable table
    • Organizing bins/containers for easy pack in pack out
