As we get closer to my birthday and the closing of this series, I wanted to take a moment to dive into the theme of overcoming overthinking and learning how to truly trust our intuition in business. Reflecting on my 30-plus years in a high-pressure career, I quickly realized that the habit of overthinking can be detrimental. In the heat of emergencies and constant challenges, overthinking served a purpose. However, in the entrepreneurial realm, it can stifle creativity and hinder decision-making. Acknowledging this struggle became the first step in regaining my balance and clarity. Throughout today’s episode, I want to share three key points that have helped me. Firstly, we must acknowledge our overthinking instead of fighting it. Allowing our thoughts to come forth rather than suppressing them weakens their power. I often recommend engaging with these thoughts; write them down, analyze them, and challenge their validity. By reframing our thoughts, we can shift our perspective and lessen their grip. Along with this, I’ve discovered the effectiveness of the yes-no body scan technique to tap into my intuition. By simply visualizing a decision and saying “yes” or “no,” I can feel the response in my body, enabling a stronger connection with my intuitive self. The final piece I want to touch on today is about strengthening self-trust and eliminating that pesky second-guessing. As I realized, I often outsourced my decision-making to others, seeking validation and reassurance where I didn’t need to. Trusting myself has meant embracing uncertainty and understanding that I don’t have to know every step ahead of me. Instead, I can rely on my intuition to guide me moment by moment. This journey has taught me that letting go of external validation and finding comfort in my intrinsic guidance is empowering. So, if you find yourself struggling with overthinking and doubt, remember: acknowledge those thoughts, practice the body scan, and most importantly, trust in yourself. Join me as we continue to explore these concepts, and thank you for being here on this journey with me! Highlights Recognizing that overthinking can hinder intuitive responses. Writing down and acknowledging thoughts reduces their power. Using reframing to challenge negative beliefs and assumptions. The effectiveness of the yes-no body scan technique in decision-making. Distinguishing between intuition and fear for clearer choices. Building self-trust is vital for reducing reliance on external validation. Embracing uncertainty can enhance business decisions and personal growth. Key Insights Acknowledgement over Resistance: Overthinking often intensifies when one fights or resists it. By acknowledging these thoughts instead, one can reduce their control and impact. Body Scan Technique: The yes-no body scan helps individuals to visualize their responses to decisions, creating a clearer connection with their intuition and decision-making process. Reframing Cognitions: Challenging negative thoughts through reframing cultivates a healthier mindset and allows for more productive strategies. Trusting Intuition: Intuition is often clear and direct, whereas fear tends to bring confusion and doubt. Recognizing this distinction is crucial for confident decision-making.
