The rapid speed of technological innovation and the slow speed of ethical learning make it challenging to ensure that AI and other technologies align with sound moral values. Powerful tech leaders, who design these systems, may not fully understand how they will be used globally. Olivia Gambelin, a virtue ethicist, suggests taking a virtue ethics approach to ensure that the moral virtues embedded in AI systems reflect the values of the people who use them. Developing inclusive and thoughtful AI is crucial to ensure our technologies align with sound moral principles.
