Chef Shuai Wang was the runner-up on the 22nd season of Bravo’s Top Chef and is the force behind two standout restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina—Jackrabbit Filly and King BBQ—where he brings together the flavors of his childhood in Beijing and the spirit of the South in some pretty unforgettable ways. He grew up just a short walk from Tiananmen Square, in a tiny home with no electricity or running water, where his grandmother often cooked over charcoal. Later, in Queens, New York, his mom taught herself to cook—her first dishes were a little salty, but they were always made with love. And somewhere along the way, Shuai learned that cooking wasn’t just about food—it was about taking care of people. After years working in New York kitchens, he made his way to Charleston and started building something that feels entirely his own. Today, we’re talking about how all those experiences come together on the plate, the family stories behind his cooking, and what it’s been like to share that journey on national TV. Hello music lovers!!! On this week's episode, we discuss the recent national and global protests demanding racial justice due to the violent killings of #GeorgeFloyd #AhmaudArbery and #BreonnaTaylor by police. The ladies also discussed the "impact" of the #BlackoutTuesday initiative created by the music industry to protest these incidents. Some streaming services created blacked out, silent, or minimal programming lasting 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the length of time it took for George Floyd's life to be taken. However some of us were not 100% impressed with their efforts and we challenged the music industry to do more! In addition, we provide listeners with resources they can use to help fight against police brutality if protesting on the front lines is not your lane. There is something we can all do to help fight for justice! Take a listen for more information! Hey Music lovers! Happy Tuesday!! In today's episode of the podcast we discuss #strugglelove and how the music we listen to helps to normalize this idea, especially for black women. We discuss a few songs that show what we think of as "struggle love" and why the idea of unfair hardship and avoidable struggle in relationships before getting to love does more harm than good. What songs do you know that promote struggle love?…

This series will feature an in depth discussion of a particular piece of media & entertainment that makes a significant impact in our everyday lives. This could be anything from music, television, podcasts, movies, etc. In the first "Views in Review" we discuss The New York Times audio series called The 1619 project. This project was created to dive into the historical start of American Slavery and its impact on American history, as 2019 marks the 400th Anniversary of the start of American slavery. On this week’s episode we’re talking all things music covers! I mean let’s be honest, some of us don’t truly appreciate a song until one of our favorite artists recreates it and makes it their own. Most of the time the new rendition is better than the original. Or in Taylor Swift’s case...it’s best to leave certain songs untouched. So tune in as we dissect a few of our favorite (and not so favorite) covers. You might be surprised by what you hear! Have something to add to the convo?? - Use the hashtag #VIEWSPOD on your socials! Hello music lovers! On this week’s episode we are talking about the 2019 Grammy awards w/ our guest co-host/VFTC contributor B.The Plug! As many of you know, there was only one female winner of a solo award at last years telecast. The organization seemed to have stepped it up in a big way by enlisting Alicia Keys as the host for the night followed by a slew of Grammy wins for women. Despite their efforts though some boycotted the event entirely. Ariana Grande backed out of her performance last minute. Drake was late but came through with a message for the masses! Childish Gambino, Taylor Swift, and a few others didn’t bother showing up at all. Not to mention the backlash Cardi B faced after winning “Rap Album of the Year”. On this week’s episode we discuss the recent Hulu and Netflix documentaries examining the scandalous music festival, Fyre Festival. Fyre Fest was supposed to be a luxurious festival on the Bahamian islands providing the perfect backdrop for the ultimate social media experience. The exclusive two-weekend event promised a lavish carribean getaway by advertising private jets, luxury yachts, gourmet meals, and high-profile celebrities. However, the attendees were in for the shock of their life as what they experienced was far from luxury. Let’s just say a lot of crying selfies were taken which resulted in one of the worst social media disasters of all time. After watching both films, we still had so many questions that needed answers. To get the inside scoop we interviewed Felix Vargas, one of the event producers of Fyre Fest who was actually featured on the Hulu documentary Fyre Fraud. Felix, who is also the co-founder of Curated Vibes Group, walked us through his personal involvement in the festival and what really went down behind the scenes. We discussed the false perception that was presented to the public as well as the possible intentions of the organizers. Hello music lovers, this week’s episode is inspired by the upcoming Millennium tour featuring B2K. We sat down with guest co-hosts Lisa and Corey who brought on plenty of laughs. As many of you know, the Chixx love R&B music and once we heard that one of our favorite groups from back in the day was going on the tour, we lost it! This moment is exactly what our souls have been missing! We discuss the upcoming tour and the current drama between the members. We reminisce about our favorite male R&B groups that paved the way for groups like B2K to shine. And of course we re-ask the question "Who is the King of R&B"?? A lot more people are now coming out of the woodwork to claim the throne! We love the current spicy conversation! Lastly, we featured music from our favorite (and honorable mention) R&B groups from the late 90’s to early 00’s. Take a listen to find out who made the cut! On this week's episode we interviewed GRAMMY-winning rapper, songwriter, and producer Swoope. The Akron, Ohio native talked about being exposed to different genres of music at a young age and how his pastor encouraged him to create music of his own. He gave us a little background info on growing up with Lebron James and how stepping out on faith led him to working with Lecrae. Swoope definitely dropped some gems on us as well! We discussed how music is just a "conversation frozen in time" and who his favorite artists are at the moment. He breaks down his writing process and how he continues to stay motivated even through an "inspirational block". We also reviewed his 2018 album SONSHINE, our favorite songs from that project, and future plans for new music. This was a fun interview and a great guest to kick off the 2019 new year.
