Derek's goal is to help churches and pastors be more effective and joyful. With experience as student / executive pastor, church board chairman and technology company leader, Derek has experience in many leadership contexts and is passionate for the church.

Derek was a student ministry pastor through most of his twenties in California and Oregon. After a transition to marketplace and lay ministry, Derek and a partner started Front Porch, a technology company that helped Internet providers deliver a personalized experience to their customers and worked in that business for 25 years. The church has always been his passion as he was involved in leading college, family and marketplace ministries in our church and community. He also served ten years on the board at his church and led the board through the transition during the retirement of the founding (40 year!) pastor and recruiting a new lead pastor. He had the opportunity to fill the executive pastor role in his church and developed or renewed ministries for assimilation, groups, stewardship and leadership development pipelines. Derek holds a B.S. in Bible and an M.A. in Pastoral Ministry both from Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon and holds several patents related to Internet content delivery models.
