In this, the first, episode of Vitamin DnD, the hosts Patrick and Brady discuss the purpose of the podcast, give a brief description of how we got into Dungeons and Dragons, and what content to expect in the future.

The purpose of Vitamin DnD is to act as a guide to anyone who might be interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons, specifically the 5th Edition. We hope to present the basics to beginners, as well as provide a resource to experienced players to reference. And of course, keep our content valuable, while also being fun, and being family-friendly.

Brady and Patrick discuss how they got into Dungeons and Dragons. Both enjoyed fantasy in different forms like novels and games. Brady shared how he was first introduced to D&D with the Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes video game, then picked up some basic rules books with a friend, taking on the role as Dungeon Master to guide his friends through the game. Patrick didn’t get into D&D until he and Brady were roommates in college, though he had experience with fantasy video games and books, and maybe even have accidently LARPed as a kid! Patrick got back into D&D during an overseas deployment, gaining some experience as a Dungeon Master as well.

Brady and Patrick talk briefly about the podcast going forward, with the first season mainly focused on the basics, for beginning players, as well as anyone introducing the game to friends. Throughout each season, we will also have episodes tailored more for the Dungeon Masters, as well as continuing additions and developments from the Dungeons and Dragons community.
