Director of Public Services at the Carnegie Library, Mary Monaghan, talks with Jim Cunningham about the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books. The Festival boasts nearly 100 authors and poets discussing their work. There will also be events for kids and families with food trucks! Each panel discussion will be introduced by librarians. One even by Music Department Head, Julie Hanify. The Festival is working with the International Poetry Forum to present Judy Collins in the Lecture Hall at 4 pm. There will be signings for most authors and all events are free. Mary also talks about the fundraising event on Friday night and she suggests that libraries are more vital than ever. She discusses how the Pittsburgh festival has grown dramatically from the vision of Marshall Cohen in just a few years. You can experience the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books on Saturday, May 31st from 10 am to 5 pm at the Main Branch of the Carnegie Library. Mary encourages advanced registration book talks! The Novel Evening Dinner Fundraiser is on Friday, May 30th at 6 pm. Visit https://www.pittsburghbookfestival.org/ to learn more.
