THE TRUE CRIME CASE THIS STORY IS BASED ON: (Greenwich, New York – 1889) When 19-year-old servant Maggie Hourigan vanished on her way to meet friends, no one expected her body would turn up the next morning in a shallow pool near a remote stretch of road. Authorities first called it suicide — but Maggie’s spotless reputation and a second autopsy revealing a head injury cast doubt on that conclusion. Rumors of mysterious men, a carriage accident, bribed doctors, and drunken confessions only deepened the mystery. Despite rewards, a Pinkerton investigation, and wild accusations — including against the very doctor who declared her death a suicide — no one was ever convicted. More than a century later, the truth about what happened to Maggie Hourigan remains unsolved.
