Latisha Howard is a native of Sanford, Florida and married to Edward Howard Jr. She is a loving mother of three and proud grandmother of three. She attended the public schools of Seminole County, Florida and graduated from Seminole High School in 1992. She has nearly 30 years' experience in law enforcement with nearly 20 of those years in a leadership position. She is employed with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office as a Captain assigned to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
Latisha earned her bachelor’s degree in general studies and her master's degree in leadership. She has a passion for speaking to and inspiring young women in her community. Her passion comes from being a teenage single mother. She knows firsthand the importance of having positive role models in your life. In 2020 she started her own non-profit organization SHE WAS ME, Inc. Her vision for the organization is to be a beacon of hope to young women who are currently experiencing the same things she experienced in her past. The motto of the organization can be defined in three words NEVER GIVE UP!
Latisha is a recent published author with the release of her debut book, ROAR ~ Rising Over Adversity Resiliently. In it, she shares her powerful journey of overcoming the challenges of being a teenage mother and rising to become an award-winning leader in law enforcement. Her story is one of resilience, determination, and triumph. In her spare time she likes spending time with her family and friends.
