Comedian, writer, actor, and director, Mark O’Sullivan shares his deeply personal journey of being a victim of sexual abuse as a child.

Last year Mark made a documentary for Channel 4 documenting his abuse. It wasn’t what you’d expect, and he created a TV comedy about his experiences called ‘My Sexual Abuse: The Sitcom’.

In this chat Mark opens up about the challenges of confronting his trauma, the impact of therapy, and the importance of finding humour in even the darkest of situations. Mark emphasises the significance of sharing stories to alleviate shame and inspire others. We also discuss his new podcast, Making Lemonade, where similar to ‘When Life Gives You Lemons’ Mark explores how individuals can turn their adversities into positives.

Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions of child abuse that may be distressing to some listeners. Please take care while listening.

You can listen to the full episode wherever you find your podcasts or watch on YouTube.
