Our guest this week was SABERA Awardee for lifetime achievement, Dr. Sunil Kaul, Founder Trustee of The ANT, an NGO dedicated to village development in Assam's Chirang district, Bodoland. Dr. Kaul's journey is one of courage and compassion. After serving in the Army Medical Corps for a decade, treating injuries with boldness, Dr. Kaul felt compelled to address the deeper issues plaguing rural areas. His experiences in Arunachal Pradesh and Rajasthan revealed the stark realities of scarce healthcare, education, poverty, corruption, and poor governance. Driven by a sense of duty, Dr. Kaul responded by working in rural Rajasthan before relocating to the Northeast amidst militancy. Despite facing challenges like ULFA militants and personal tragedy, Dr. Kaul remained resolute in his mission to empower communities for health and development. Today, The ANT, under Dr. Kaul's leadership, continues its noble work, training community health workers and fostering development in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, and beyond.
