For nearly 10 years, Jim Vincent has served as the president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Providence Branch. Since 2013, Jim has worked for Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA), first, as the Civil Rights Compliance Officer and, currently, as the Community Outreach Officer. For the past 18 years, he has served as the producer and host of television's Jim Vincent Show. Additionally, Jim serves as the president of the East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) and serves on the Executive Committees of the African Alliance of Rhode Island (AARI) and the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists (SNEABJ). He is a member of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center. Jim is a former president of the Urban League of Rhode Island (ULRI) and the Rhode Island Affirmative Action Professionals (RIAAP). Jim holds a Master of City Planning (MCP) from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Dartmouth College. He is a graduate of Leadership Rhode Island (LRI). Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, he is a resident of Cranston, Rhode Island.
