The passage reveals Jesus fulfilling Isaiah's 700-year-old prophecy about light coming to people dwelling in darkness and the shadow of death. When Jesus heard of John's imprisonment, He departed to Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, precisely where Isaiah had foretold the light would first appear.
Jesus' inaugural message was startlingly direct: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." These words remain just as urgent and relevant today. We explore the true nature of repentance as more than mere regret—it's complete heart transformation, a turning away from sin and self-reliance toward complete dependence on Christ.
