30 of April at 2.30 am, the police arrived in Ellwangen Camp in South of Germany to deport a man from Togo however due to to the spontaneous solidarity and peaceful protest of other inhabitants in the camp, the police did not manage to carry through the deportation this day. Some days after on 3rd of May, in the same camp a massive police operation took place where more than 600 police arrived and searched the rooms of people in the camp, handcuffing people and injured many. As a reaction to these events and the mainstream medias representations, the inhabitants from the camp decided to arrange a press conference and demontration - as they state: "There was a lot of talk about us, now we’re speaking!" http://cultureofdeportation.org/2018/05/15/ellwangen-press-conference/ The Bridge Radio talked with Isaiah Ehrauyi from Ellwangen Camp about the episode, the protest and why it was important for them to organize and unite against forced deportation and the conditions in the camp.
