Hey all, it’s Nico here with a Batman Day Special! DC has decided that Batman Day is here and so I’m here to bring my love of the Dark Knight in a special way. This isn’t just an episode but it focuses on my entry point to the Batman Universe (The Long Halloween) and what I would come to understand about it. Separately, my intro to Daredevil was The Man Without Fear by Frank Miller, and so Miller’s impact on DD would come to be so familiar from my time on DD. That means it’s time to think about the origin of Batman, the origin of my Batman fandom, and more by comparing the at-the-time definitive origin stories: Batman Year One (Batman #404 - 407 [02/87 - 05/87]) vs Haunted Night (Legend Of The Dark Knight Halloween Special #1 - 3 [1993 - 1995]), Batman Year Two (Detective Comics #575 – 578 [06/87 - 06/87]) vs The Long Halloween (Chapter One - Thirteen [12/96 - 12/97]), and Batman Year Three (Batman #436 – 436 [08/89 - 09/89]) vs Dark Victory (Chapter Zero - Thirteen [11/99 - 12/00])! It’s all this and more on an all new X Is For Podcast!
