Food is more than it's nutritional composition. It is also a composition of tastes, and these tastes can be important clues to whether that food is going to bring us in or out of balance.

In this episode, I focus on the six fundamental tastes in Ayurveda and their effects on the body's doshas.

I elaborate on how these tastes—sweet, salty, sour, bitter, pungent, and astringent—influence our physical and emotional wellbeing through the foods and herbs we consume.

To aid your understanding, I've created a detailed six-taste chart, which will be available through my newsletter and the show notes.

Alongside discussing the tastes, their elemental composition, and their impact on various doshas, I provide practical examples of foods and herbs for each taste.

I encourage you to track your daily taste intake and adjust according to the season's dominant dosha for better balance and overall health.
In this episode:

  • Introduction to the Six Tastes in Ayurveda
  • The Sweet Taste: Nourishment and Balance
  • The Bitter Taste: Cleansing and Cooling
  • The Pungent Taste: Stimulating and Invigorating
  • The Sour Taste: Warming and Moistening
  • The Salty Taste: Energizing and Grounding
  • The Astringent Taste: Drying and Tonifying
  • Incorporating All Six Tastes for Balance
