Paul Maryniak is executive editor of the Ahwatukee Foothills News, East Valley Tribune and San Tan Sun News.

A Buffalo native, he started his professional career with a group of suburban weeklies in Pittsburgh in 1970 and after a few years joined the Pittsburgh Press, where he started as a general assignment reporter, later covered criminal court and then became a special projects/investigations reporter.

He joined the Philadelphia Daily News in 1986 as an investigative reporter, then led a team of five reporters covering Philadelphia government at a time when it was on the verge of becoming the largest American city to file for bankruptcy. He became city editor for the Daily News in 1995, and in 1999 was named managing editor of the East Valley Tribune.

When the Trib's owners put all their newspapers up for sale seven months after he arrived in Mesa, Paul joined the Republic as East Valley editor. He subsequently held positions as metro editor, Deputy Managing Editor, East Valley General Manager and East Valley editor again during The Republic's continuing payroll cuts.

He joined Times Publications in June 2016.

Paul also has co-authored a book that dealt in part with three major criminal enterprises in Pittsburgh, was an adjunct journalism professor at Tempe University in Philadelphia for 10 years, and co-directed a summer journalism program for high school students in Philadelphia for 10 years.
