Welcome to The 60 and More Crowd Podcast, Episode #4: Working Longer, Survey Says. This is a Canadian based podcast with a wider global scope .

Here on the 60 and More Crowd Podcast we talk about working longer past)what used to be) traditional retirement ages and stages- focused on people in their 60's 70's and beyond. Many who are choosing to keep a work chapter for a few reasons and working in different ways. This is a space I relate to an navigate as an older worker (post career) exploring new ways to work. Older workers bring a lot of value to the marketplace.

You also may have un-retired and returned back to the workforce. You are not alone, this trend is growing. Recent worker surveys and reports have indicated this is a generation where many will work into their 70's and beyond.

These are short on the go episodes less than 8 minutes.

In this episode we will take a look at a several global worker surveys/reports on staying in the workforce.

Key takeaways:

RETIREMENT AT 65 IS NO LONGER THE FINISH LINE, Only 32% of people expected to retire at age 65. Many said this was due to economic pressures

  • 63% are interested in part-time work for income, fufilment, and ongoing learning nd skill development
  • This signals a need for a more adaptable and flexible workforce to support this growing trend
  • Decision makers need to assure that the modern workplace evolves: age friendly, flexible and open to phased in or gradual retirement

You can't navigate new paths with an old map.

Feedback, comments, stories questions welcome. Let's kindly support each other as we navigate the new workplace.

Please pass this on to anyone who maybe interested in staying informed. This podcast is in it's first season, many thanks to the global listeners who have discovered this podcast project I have created from ground level. Stay tuned for the next episode.

The learning and research for this podcast is ongoing. So interesting to explore the synergy between the worker and employer as more people stay longer on the job and the workplace will need to adapt.
