On this episode of the JVRD Author's Forum podcast, Dr. Ivana K. Kim of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, discusses ‘Confirmatory Cytopathology and Potential Impact on the Predictive Value of Gene Expression Profiling in Patients With Uveal Melanoma,' published in the March/April 2025 issue of JVRD.
Host Dr. Timothy Murray and Dr. Kim discuss research on the utility of gene expression profiling (GEP) in diagnosing uveal melanoma, particularly in cases where cytopathology results are non-diagnostic. The study found that even in small tumors where cytopathology may not be practical, GEP alone can still provide valuable prognostic information, making it a reliable tool for clinical decision-making.
