This week we review the 2023 American biographical romantic drama film Maestro that centers on the relationship between American composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre.

It was directed by Bradley Cooper, from a screenplay he wrote with Josh Singer.

It was produced by Cooper, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.

The film stars Carey Mulligan as Montealegre alongside Cooper as Bernstein.

Both the Aussie and the Scotsman are in agreement in their review of this film. It is interesting to see the life of Leonard Bernstein portrayed on film and an "unbelievable" performance by Cooper.

The Scotsman thinks he should have won the best actor Oscar.

If you have heard of Bernstein and you like his music, it is worth a watch.

This is a love story. And questions are asked "can you love a man and a woman?"

The Scotsman thinks he "just loved to love" and we find similarities to that of Elton John and Freddie Mercury.
