Days of our Lives viewers are in for a shakeup as Chad DiMera, played by Billy Flynn, gets a fresh face. The recasting was subtly hinted at by Young and the Restless actor Connor Floyd on social media, days before the official announcement. Flynn, who has portrayed Chad for over a decade, has moved over to Young and the Restless in a surprising soap opera flip flop. He now plays Cane Ashby, a character significantly older and formerly Australian, necessitating a significant restructuring of the character to accommodate Flynn's American roots.

DOOL sees Connor Floyd would be stepping into Flynn's shoes as Chad DiMera, a widower and single father to Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) and Charlotte DiMera (Autumn Gendron). Chad is currently juggling his duties at the Salem Spectator and his casual relationship with Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord), an ex ISA analyst. With his brother Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) pushing him to reclaim DiMera Enterprises from Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and Phillip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier), Chad might find himself back at the helm of the company, once Floyd takes over the role on the NBC Peacock soap opera.

Days of our Lives viewers can expect to see Billy Flynn until early 2026, with Floyd making his debut later in the year. The transition might see Chad temporarily off-screen, possibly visiting Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford)
and Jennifer Horton Devereaux (Melissa Reeves) in Boston or searching for clues about his late wife, Abigail Deveraux (Marci Miller).
