“I’ve been in recruitment for 20 years and at the start I always thought, oh negotiation is just when I’m talking to a new client and we are deciding what the terms and conditions will be: but actually, everything is a negotiation”
says Nadia Edwards-Dashti, co-founder of the Harrington Starr Group, whom we had the pleasure of speaking with in our latest episode of the Deal Divas Negotiation Podcast.
In this episode I had the pleasure of interviewing Nadia Edwards-Dashti as she shared insights into the FinTech industry and the changing face of recruitment. From starting off as a young female learning the ropes in the recruitment industry in challenging environments to co-founding the Harrington Starr Group in 2010; a leading Financial Technology recruitment firm.
In this episode of the Deal Divas podcast you will hear stories of debunking myths around certain demographics in the Tech industry, the importance of advocating for yourself and techniques to build your confidence when entering into a negotiation, job review or interview. Nadia and I discuss the importance of developing your negotiation skills and practising before significant meetings, the power of preparation and timing.
Timing is a powerful variable to play with when it comes to negotiation. There are many ways that you can utilise time within contracts to add greater value for both parties, and Nadia also discusses the importance of developing relationships and the timing of meetings if for example, you are looking to get a salary increase.
The episode covers many more topics, from dealing with difficult behaviour, knowing the value you bring to a negotiation, building your self-confidence and more.
We would love to hear from you! If you have any questions for the Deal Divas, or if there are any topics you would like to hear us to discuss, you can email us at [email protected].
'Deal Divas' is a podcast that offers a candid, sometimes serious, sometimes humorous take on all things negotiation from three women who spend their lives immersed in the topic.
