Chris Parkinson, Head of Ticketing at Burnley FC

Premium seating, hospitality and how the world of ticketing is constantly changing

Burnley are one of the best supported sides in English football per capita, with average attendances of 20,000 in a town of approximately 73,000 inhabitants.

This season The Clarets are flying high at the top of the Championship table after having been relegated last season, and they are now planning next season at Turf Moor without knowing for sure what product they are selling or which league they will be playing in.

How is this uncertainty affecting the ticketing department at the club, and how is it impacting their season ticket sales?

Burnley FC’s Head of Ticketing, Chris Parkinson, spent almost 7 years at Yorkshire County Cricket Club as Customer Operations Executive, Sales Executive, and finally Ticket Office Manager before joining Burnley as head of their ticketing department in 2022.

In this episode of TicketingPodcast.com, Chris Parkinson explains the fundamental differences between ticket sales for cricket versus football, and why football is a unique product ticketing wise.

He also shares his thoughts about NFC ticketing, why secure reselling options for season tickets is needed within football, and how dynamic pricing may be a challenge for football clubs and fans moving forward.

The podcast was recorded on 15 February 2023.
