The use of video-recorded consultations in general practice training is a highly valuable educational tool. By reviewing their real-life consultations, registrars can engage in reflective practice and genuinely self-assess their consultation, communication and reasoning skills. Furthermore, video-recorded consultations enable supervisors and educators to assess registrar performance with a level of detail that is not possible through traditional observation. This can result in more focused feedback and a deeper understanding of areas needing improvement.
