Hudson Taylor is considered one of the most influential figures in Christian missions. He really revolutionized how missionaries should share the gospel in foreign countries, especially where cultures are so different than their own. His life is well documented across multiple biographies - I read the one by Gregg Lewis called Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret and was just floored by his example of putting his faith into action. Let's see how Hudson Taylor become the Christian we know today.

"Christian biography combines all sorts of things we need but have so little time to pursue. It is history and guards us against chronological snobbery. It is also theology because it comes from the lives of people like us. It is also adventure and suspense, for which we have a natural hunger. It is psychology and personal experience, which deepen our understanding of human nature. Good biographies of great Christians make for remarkably efficient reading." - John Piper on Desiring God
