Our advice for protecting ourselves from marketing on social media:
- Be aware of your insecurities
- Take 24/48 hours before purchasing, delay the instant gratification.
- Read reviews before purchasing, and do your research.
- Ask yourself, can I add this (item) into my routine, is it sustainable, ie supplements, beauty products etc.
- Calm yourself down, be realistic before you purchase something, don't catastrophize something do I have this health concern?
- If you do not have self-control with your phone - get a phone jail from Amazon
- Practice leaving your phone at home, go for a walk without it, or ask someone you are with to keep a hold of it on a night out, or when catching up with friends, no phones at the table.
