You don’t have to carry burnout alone. The right support can help you breathe again—start here: https://caitdonovan.com/coaching. Burnout recovery gets real as Sarah Vosen sits down with an anonymous guest who feels trapped by perfectionism, people-pleasing, and the voice of an inner critic that makes self-compassion feel out of reach. In this episode, she’s trying something different for the podcast: a real-time coaching session. Her guest “Kate” describes how burnout began with constant illness and eventually knocked her flat, leaving her exhausted and uncertain about how to move forward. Years later, Kate still feels caught in a loop of trial and error, trying new practices, hoping for change, and losing faith when nothing seems to last. How do you find the courage to say no before your body forces you to? And how do you begin to quiet the inner critic that insists you’ll never get better? Through thoughtful coaching, Sarah helps Kate see the fear of saying no for what it is: a strategy that once kept her safe but now keeps her stuck. She offers a new way to look at recovery, like a scale that can slowly tip away from self-judgment and toward self-compassion with each small act of courage. Along the way, Kate begins to see how even the tiniest pieces of evidence, moments of asking for help, choosing rest, or protecting her needs, can start to shift the balance. This conversation opens a window into the real work of burnout recovery. It’s messy and slow, but it’s also a practice of rediscovering your voice, setting boundaries that protect your energy, and remembering that even a flicker of hope is proof that change is possible. Binge Watching Shows Might Be Good For You This sums me up. according to new research from the University of Georgia. It suggests there may be some mental health benefits to binge-watching shows and movies you love. The new study finds that watching episode after episode or having movie marathons or binge-reading books can make it harder for a story to get out of your head. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It makes us more likely to remember stories, keep engaging them through daydreams and fantasies, and helps us get a bigger picture of the story. Dr. Joshua Baldwin, lead study author and media psychology researcher, says binge-watching helps us build “mental worlds” where stories continue long after the credits roll, which can help us cope in stressful times. Aging With Power Dr. Vonda Wright is hoping to change that. The orthopedic surgeon and longevity specialist wants to level the playing field and bring women into the focus because men and women aren’t aging the same way. She wants women to “age with power” and encourages them to build strength and work on disease prevention during their early midlife years, from 35 to 45 years old, which she calls the “critical decade.” To do that, she recommends: Reframe dietary changes that support longevity - Instead of trying to lose weight, focus on maximizing lean muscle and minimizing body fat. The goal isn’t to be skinny, but to be lean. Eat one gram of protein per ideal pound a day to support the muscle you’re trying to build and cutting back on sugar, which leads to inflammation and can contribute to multiple diseases. When it comes to exercise, she uses the acronym “FACE” your future: F for Flexibility - And joint range of motion. Yoga, pilates, tai chi, and dynamic stretching are great options. A for Aerobic - Getting your heart rate up is good for the ticker, but Wright advises doing lower heart rate exercise, like walking, 80% of the time, and higher intensity workouts 20% of the time. C for Carry a load - Strength and power are the goal, so lifting heavy is the way to go. That means fewer reps with heavier weights. E is for Equilibrium - Being strong and flexible is important as you age, but so is balance so you don’t fall and break something. Wright warns that if you trip and end up with what’s known as a “fatal fall,” 50% of the time, it lands you in a nursing home. Bad Money Habits To Break Autopilot Expenses: Automatic renewals sound convenient, but they’re also a sneaky way to lose track of your money. That streaming service you haven’t watched in months? Still billing you. Using The Same Passwords: Reusing the same password across sites makes it way too easy for scammers to break in and wreak havoc on your finances. A password manager (and a little thing called multifactor authentication) can be your new best friend to keep your money safe. Paying Way Too Much Attention To Your Investments: Not only is it stressful, but it can also lead you to make impulsive, money-losing decisions like selling low when the market dips. A better approach is to zoom out, stay calm, and trust the long-term plan rather than panicking at short-term bumps. Not Looking At Your Investments Is Also Not Great: Markets change, and your mix of stocks and bonds can drift in ways that no longer match your comfort level with risk. A quarterly check-in (or using a financial adviser or app) can make sure your money is working in line with your goals without letting it simmer unattended for years. Chasing Credit Card Promotions: You might end up overspending just to hit the minimum requirement, or dinging your credit score with too many hard inquiries. Unless you’re a pro at managing multiple cards, chasing these deals can do more harm than good. Super Penny Pinching: If you’re skipping necessary home repairs or living off ramen just to see your savings account grow, you’re missing the point. A healthy money mindset means balancing saving with spending on things that truly matter to you. Second Date Update Carlos called us about Heather. MRI Update I finally got my results back yesterday. I haven't had my doc go over them yet. Since te medical jargon was too much for my peabrain, my husband suggested we put the diagnosis into GPT. Think swelling, arthritis, degeneration....basically, I'm "corpsifying" and the fall exacerbated it. I am hoping for a steroid shot and physical therapy. The 3-3-3 Method Tired of writing the same to-do list out every day? The “3-3-3 method” can help you stay organized, focused and productive, without feeling overwhelmed. The first three is for three hours of deep work on an important project. The method encourages users to kick start the day with three whole hours devoted to one big thing, whether that’s an assignment you need to finish for work, a project with a looming deadline or another essential task. After the three hours are up, take a much-needed break. Then you’ll be ready to tackle three time-sensitive tasks. These are things that you keep putting off. This is when you make the phone call, send the scary email or go to the meeting you’re dreading. And finally, it’s time for three routine tasks that you need to do to keep your life running smoothly. This is stuff you tend to put on the back burner, like grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning up around the house, or even making your to-do list for tomorrow. We Second-Guess 41% Of Daily Decisions The average American second-guesses 41% of the decisions they make in a day, a new survey finds. But for some overthinkers, it’s even more often, as one in eight admit they contemplate almost all their choices. That can make grocery shopping overwhelming, as the average person spends four minutes deciding on each item they consider adding to their cart. Second Date Update Sean got in touch about Rachel. They met on Hinge and went to a late-night diner in Oakland. Sean said they clicked right away, were laughing over milkshakes and fries, and he left thinking the chemistry was strong. But Rachel ghosted him afterward, so he called us for help.…

Do You Think A Four-Day Work Would Actually Work? Seven in 10 workers feel they could be just as productive in a four-day work week, according to new research. Things That Make Insomnia Worse Staying in bed longer - Experts advise a sleep routine of getting up at the same time every morning and only getting into bed when you’re truly tired. Cutting out screens completely - Lying in bed without something to focus on can lead to overthinking, which is terrible for sleep. That’s when having something to distract your thoughts can be helpful, but stick with something calm, like a nature documentary or soothing podcast. Swearing off caffeine forever - Caffeine blocks adenosine, which makes you sleepy, so if an afternoon cup of tea keeps you awake at night, skip it. Trying too hard to sleep “right” - Trackers, gadgets and products to enhance sleep make it easy to obsess over snoozing, but that can backfire and give you anxiety. Your body knows how to rest and micromanaging it can add pressure, instead of helping. Expecting consistency - Thanks to things like age, stress, hormones and even the weather, some nights sleep will be easier than others, and that’s normal. You won’t get a solid eight hours every night, so don’t expect it or beat yourself up if the popular advice isn’t helping you.⠀ House Noises You Shouldn't Ignore Rushing water noises - Do a quick check for pooling water in areas that are prone to leaking, like your sink or bathroom, and checking the water meter is also a good idea. Buzzing from lights - If you hear any sounds coming from your outlets or switches, call a licensed electrician. Whistling or hissing noises near gas-based appliances - This could be a “really serious indicator of a potential danger in your home that could lead to a house fire,” Dripping faucet sounds - It’s less of an immediate emergency, but it can cost you more the longer you ignore it. Gurgling toilets - If it gurgles after you flush, that would be indication that you either have a backup and the water can pass but it’s struggling. Second Date Update Amanda called us about Gabe. They matched on Bumble and met for coffee in Redwood City. Amanda said the conversation was fun, she was smiling the whole time, and she really thought there was chemistry. MRI Update I went in for a neck MRI after I tripped over a dog bed in the dark. It has been a minute and I've been living on a steady diet of Advil and Tylenol. My chiropractor suggested the MRI. I haven't gotten my results yet, but as far as MRI's going, it wasn't terrible (the Xanax helped). But the staff was kind and they prepped my really well. I asked the technician if he thought MRI's would ever be silent. He said...."no." Bummer. 5 4 3 2 1 Method Grocery shopping is much more stressful than it should be. But don’t worry – there’s a hack for that! If you’ve been on TikTok, you’ve probably seen that there’s the 5-4-3-2-1 method. It’s a grocery shopping hack that’ll cut your grocery shopping down - both time-wise and cost-wise. So, what is it? It’s the numbers for you to keep in mind when you go shopping. Your goal should be to buy five vegetables, four fruits, three proteins, two starches, and one item for fun. It takes the guesswork out of grocery shopping and will keep you from getting overwhelmed or overbuying. Boat Cruise Recap It was a blast and sadly, there is video of me doing the "Roger Rabbit." Quit Cracking "Quiet cracking" is a workplace term for the gradual psychological and emotional deterioration of an employee who remains in their job but becomes increasingly disengaged, unmotivated, and unhappy, often due to factors like lack of career growth, feelings of being undervalued, burnout, and job insecurity from AI or a difficult job market. Unlike " quiet quitting ," which is a conscious decision to do the bare minimum, quiet cracking is a subtle, slow decline in motivation and productivity that can lead to disengagement and increased stress. Have you ever been there & how did you get yourself out of it? You Need More Sleep There are obvious signs that a person needs to get more sleep and then there are the sneaky signs the body slips our way. Poor sleep is very common and there are some weird signs that you are a victim of it, according to the Speed Foundation. Hormonal and menstrual changes Aches and pains Clumsiness Weight gain Getting tongue-tied ‘Microsleep’ episodes Dental issues New research reveals that people are getting braver about skipping excessive tips. A new survey of 2-thousand U.S. adults asks about their approaches to tipping and finds that the average person is still “guilt-tipping” nearly $300 a year more than they want to because of social pressure. That’s still a lot of money, but it’s a lot less than last year’s total. According to the poll, the average person reluctantly tips $24 a month more than they think is fair because of guilt or the awkwardness of not tipping. That adds up to $283 over a year, but it’s a big drop from 2024’s guilt-tipping tally of $453. This year, Americans guilt tip an average of 4.2 times a month, down from last year’s 6.3 average of times a month. Overall, 20% of respondents say they always or often tip higher because they feel pressured or guilty, but 29% say they rarely or never do. More than a third (37%) report that the tipping option amounts are higher than they used to be now. In general, 22% say they tip less across the board in 2025, but 32% actually tip more now to specifically support workers. And more than three-quarters (78%) think businesses should pay employees more so they don’t have to rely on tips. Second Date Update Brynn calls us about Patrick. They met on Hinge. Money Milestones The ages Americans think you should be for these money milestones: Start saving for retirement - Age 27. But retirement planners say if you start any time in your 20s, you’re doing great and research shows that younger people are saving early. To land your dream job - Age 29. The thing is, the average American changes jobs a dozen times between the time they’re 18 and 56. So most of us haven’t found a dream job by 29, or we wouldn’t leave it. To buy your first home - Age 30. Home prices have spiked since 2020 and mortgage rates are high as well, so homes are less affordable. To earn six figures - Age 35. A lot of Americans will never make a six-figure income. The average full-time worker in the U.S. made about $12-hundred a week in the second quarter of 2025, or about $62,500 a year, federal data shows. To become debt-free - Age 41. I got into my dream college and was excited to have that financial cushion, but when I asked about it, my parents showed me an “accounting” of how they used it over the years. Turns out all the things they gave me growing up (cheer camp, my senior trip, extracurricular activities, etc) were paid for with my money. They never once told me that’s where the money was coming from and now I only have enough left to cover my first year of school. After that I’ll need to get a job and figure it out on my own. I feel like that money was supposed to be for my future, not for them to use to cover stuff they didn’t want to pay for. Am I wrong to be mad about this? The Lengths People Go To Save Their Phones A new survey says folks would consider doing shocking and disgusting things to make sure they didn’t lose or break their device. More than a third (38%) would be willing to skip eating for an entire day if it would keep their phone safe. If they dropped their phone onto subway tracks, one in five (20%) would risk their safety to climb down and pick it up. Another 59% would dive into a pool fully clothed at a wedding and 56% would even dumpster dive to get their phone back. More than half (54%) claim they’d even fish their phone out of a filthy festival toilet. Nope. No thanks, Tom Hanks. End Of Summer Cleanout August is the perfect time to give your closet a reset. Experts say you should declutter at least four times a year and this seasonal shift is a natural opportunity to clear out items you haven’t been wearing or that don’t serve you anymore. Sweat-stained summer clothes that can’t be saved Broken beach bags with ripped handles or torn pockets Ill-fitting swimsuits that lost their shape or elasticity Worn-out or unworn sandals that never made it out the door Duplicate or neglected summer dresses you never reach for Unused accessories like hats, sunglasses, or jewelry that don’t fit your current lifestyle Trends For Fall Secondhand finds are in-demand, as searches for “thrifted kitchen” have jumped 1,012% and “thrifted decor” searches are up 283%. RED FLAGS THAT MIGHT MEAN YOUR FRIEND ISN’T HAPPY FOR YOU When you have a personal win, you want to share it with your friends. But everyone doesn’t always seem as happy for your successes. Here are a few things to watch out for the next time you’re excitedly telling your friends about your latest win: They change the subject quickly They downplay your accomplishment It feels like they’re competing with you Backhanded compliments They don’t celebrate your successes It seems like they’re only there when you’re having a bad time They’re outright negative about your successes They don’t like talking about your achievements in public For every win you share, they mirror it with one of their own When you need them most, they’re nowhere to be found Things Younger Generations Will Never Get Many Y2K trends are back, especially when it comes to fashion. But there are some trends from the ‘90s and early ‘00s that would totally blow the minds of those under the age of 25. "Downloading music off Limewire to iTunes, running to Walmart while it downloads, buying blank CDs, and burning them once it’s downloaded. Then, thinking of a cool name for your new CD." "Playing literally one video game for the entire summer, no online walkthroughs. If you wanted a hint, you needed to buy a paper guidebook, hope your friend knew the tricks, or call a 900 number for help." "Not just having a landline, but SHARING a landline." “Buying ringtones” "Chain emails: I'd be so embarrassed to do that today..." "Having to wait a week for 10 photos to be processed and printed." "If you missed a new episode of a TV show, you just missed it." "Waiting for songs to come on the radio so you could record them on a cassette tape, and getting mad if the DJ talked over the intro. Kids today will never know the struggle of timing it perfectly and still ending up with the DJ’s voice at the beginning." “The simple act of being bored while waiting in a doctor's office, traveling, or attending family parties, etc." How To Eat Well On A Budget Snag a $5 mystery dinner: Apps like Too Good To Go and Flashfood help you score a surprise bag of groceries worth $30 for just a few bucks. The only catch? You’ll need to pick it up fast, so be ready to dash out the door when the alert comes in. Take a free cooking class Make friends with your freezer: Buy items like meat, bread, and even milk in bulk when they’re on sale, then freeze what you can’t use right away. Pro tip: freeze herbs in olive oil in ice cube trays for instant flavor boosts in soups and pasta. Volunteer your way to free produce: Groups like the Society of St. Andrew organize “gleaning” crews, where volunteers harvest leftover crops from farms. You get to keep some of the bounty while the rest goes to local food banks. Pick up a rotisserie chicken: It’s already cooked, tasty, and versatile enough to stretch into several meals. Soup it up: Soups are budget superheroes because they turn simple, cheap ingredients into hearty, nutritious meals. Toss in beans, grains, and seasonal veggies. Shop at the right time. Grocery stores often mark down bakery items, meats, and produce at specific times of day; sometimes slashing prices by 30-percent or more. Host potluck nights. Second Date Update: Declan calls us about Soraya. They met on Bumble and decided to walk through Golden Gate Park together. They even grabbed some dumplings afterward at one of his favorite hole-in-the-wall places. It was simple, but he thought it was romantic. Over 40 Wants These Requirements A Reddit user asks the subreddit r/AskWomenOver40, “What’s a really weird, UNCONVENTIONAL thing that you absolutely NEED in a partner?” Hundreds of women did not hold back, confessing the strange and surprising qualities they’re looking for in a partner. From “Cannot be a spitter” to “Has the skills necessary to do well in a zombie apocalypse," these ladies know exactly what they want. Things Our Parents Were Right About Waking up early sets you up for success Family dinners weren’t just about the food Keeping a tidy space actually makes a difference Spending time outdoors isn’t optional Saving money instead of spending it all Building genuine relationships takes actual effort Working with your hands grounds you Teachers Predict 2025 Slang Terms “6-7” - Kids say this in a very particular way, but what it means is unclear. A teacher says she’s asked a million kids, including her own, and she still hasn’t gotten an explanation of the meaning and where it comes from. “On God” - It’s like saying “swear to God,” apparently. Students insisting they did their homework, but just don’t have it with them, so they say, “On God, Mr. P! On God!” “Lore” - It’s basically a way to say “backstory” or “background information,” usually about a person or fictional character and it can be complicated, but helps explain someone on a deep level. “Delulu” - This one is fun to say and means delusional. “Cinema” - It refers to something that’s high drama or incredibly messy and is used the way a millennial might have said “epic” back in the day. “Crash out” - This is the new “spiraling” and can be applied to just about anything. “Everything causes a crash out,” a teacher named Marnie explains. “No chocolate milk left in the cafeteria? ‘OMG! I’m crashing out!’ “Main character energy” - Someone who has this thinks of themselves as the star of the show and it’s used to call them out for taking themselves too seriously. “Big back” - This can be self-depricating, if a kid says they’re a “big back” while raiding the pantry for another snack. Fewer Young Americans Reaching Major Adulting Milestones Some people never want to grow up and according to new research from the U.S. Census Bureau, fewer young adults are hitting milestones related to adulthood. It turns out, there’s been a dramatic shift in how many young people in the country are reaching major life events, like moving out of their parents’ house, getting married and having a child. Back in 1975, nearly half of all Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 had done these things, but today, less than a quarter have.⠀ The 12-3-20 Workout A fitness trend that went viral on social media with more than 14-million views may actually do what it says, new research suggests. The 12-3-30 treadmill workout took off on TikTok. It claims that walking at a 12% incline, at a pace of three miles per hour, for 30 minutes is a fat-burning, low-impact fitness fix. A new study puts it to the test, comparing results to “self-paced” treadmill running. In the study, young adults did two workouts, one round of 12-3-30 and one session of running at a pace they could keep up for 20 to 25 minutes. The workouts were adjusted to burn the same number of calories and running burned calories faster, about 13 calories per minute compared to 10 calories per minute for the 12-3-30. That’s because calories are burned faster with a higher intensity workout, like running. What’s interesting is that the 12-3-30 workout used more fat as a fuel source - 41% of energy came from fat, while 33% did during running. The Little Kid Things Adults Won't Stop Doing Redditors are spilling the “little kid” things they still do even though they’re adults, and you may just want to start doing them, too. "Every single time I go to Target, I have to walk down the Lego aisle. I don't even buy them, I just like to look at the big, complicated sets and imagine building them." "Watching cartoons. As an adult living in today’s world, I just need a break from reality and want something funny and innocent." "Buying dino nuggets. I'm a legal adult who can cook actual food, but sometimes you just have a bad day and the only cure is dinosaur-shaped chicken." "Rainbow sprinkles on my ice cream. They look so cheerful and I like the crunch. Chocolate sprinkles are not an acceptable substitute. I want every color of food dye or no deal." "Coming home with cool-looking rocks in my pockets." "Driving by farm animals and saying their names out loud. 'Hi, cows!' 'Horses!' 'Have a nice day, goatie goats!'" Second Date Update Andre calls about Nicole. Ridiculous Excuses For Missing Work A new Reddit thread is reminding us that people will say just about anything to get out of work. What is your story? "I was once late to work because I was glued in my apartment. They replaced the carpet in the common hallway overnight, and were too enthusiastic with the glue by my door. I had to wait until maintenance arrived at 8 a.m., so they could body slam the door from the outside." "My grandparents had a medical emergency years ago where one got stuck on the toilet, and when the other tried to help, they fell and knocked themselves unconscious. " "Flushed my car key down the toilet. It was me, and I certainly did." "Got bit on the finger by a squirrel while tossing a coffee cup into a parking garage trashcan." "A guy I worked with in retail 15 years ago called in to say he had a nightmare and didn't think he'd be able to get back to sleep and come in to work five hours later." "I was running a shift and had a girl call in sick, saying she was too distraught to work because Zayn had left One Direction." "I had to call in late once because my stairs were gone. Of course, it was a huge violation by the condo, and we had no way out of our second-story walk-up. Absolutely ridiculous, and fortunately, the photos I sent my boss were enough to excuse my tardiness." Coupes Who Gossip Together Are Closer Most couples gossip, and it turns out, that can be good for their relationship. According to a new study from University of California, Riverside, couples who gossip together are happier and more satisfied in their romance and share a deeper bond. Researchers tracked 76 couples using a portable listening device and found they spent an average of 29 minutes a day gossiping with their partner and those who did more frequently reported higher levels of happiness and better relationship quality. Cleaning Is My Love Language Forget words of affirmation or physical touch, a new survey finds that 54% of Americans say cleaning is their love language. The research from Seventh Generation also finds that 85% consider cleaning up for someone else an act of love. Nearly two in three respondents admit they’ve been turned off by someone’s messy home and a third have even ended a relationship because of a partner’s lack of cleanliness.⠀ Second Date Update Taylor met Harper met on Tinder. Hey there, Happy Friday Eve. Here's some stuff. Corey Got In A Fight With Her Husband And she blames Marcus. Marcus bullies her in the morning, Jeff bullies her in the afternoon. She needs a break. Foods You're Storing Incorrectly Butter: Salted butter can hang out on the counter for a couple of days and still be safe, especially if your kitchen stays below 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Unsalted butter, though, is more delicate and should live in the fridge. Opened Canned Goods: Once you open that can of tuna, soup, or beans, it’s time to pop it in the fridge. While some fruits may last a little at room temp, it’s best to transfer leftovers into a glass or plastic container to preserve flavor. Eggs: In the U.S., eggs are washed before sale, which removes their protective layer and makes refrigeration essential. Leave them out for too long and bacteria can sneak in through the shell. Keep them in their carton, in the coldest part of your fridge. Flour: White flour is pretty chill in the pantry, but whole wheat flour is a little high-maintenance. It can go rancid faster because of its oils. To make it last, keep it in an airtight container and consider stashing it in the fridge or even the freezer. Bonus: no surprise funky smells when you bake. Hot Sauce: Hot sauce doesn’t have to be refrigerated, but doing so helps preserve its punchy flavor for longer. If you’re not a frequent hot sauce user, go ahead and pop it in the fridge. The spice level won’t fade, and your tacos will thank you. The USDA says you should consume the bottle within six months of putting it in your pantry. Jams and Jellies: Once opened, these sugary spreads belong in the fridge to prevent mold and yeast growth. Low-sugar varieties are especially sensitive and can spoil faster. Keep them cool and they’ll stay delicious for up to a year. Ketchup: You can leave ketchup out if stored at room temperature, but it’ll stay fresher much longer if you refrigerate it after opening. You can even stash it in the fridge door for easy access because it’s less temperature-sensitive than milk or eggs. Maple Syrup: Unopened syrup lasts ages in the pantry, but once it’s open, move it to the fridge. According to the USDA, unopened syrup in plastic bottles can last two years in the pantry and up to two years if its refrigerated. If the syrup is sold in glass bottles, it will remain fresh in the pantry for a whopping four years from date of purchase…and indefinitely if you stick it in the refrigerator. Mayonnaise: That creamy jar of mayo is not something to mess around with. After opening, keep it in the fridge door and use it within two months. And don’t freeze it or it’ll separate and get weird. Peanut Butter: Regular peanut butter is fine in the pantry. It can stay fresh for up to two years unopened, and another three months after its opened. But if you go the natural route, it’s best to keep it chilled to prevent the oils from going off. Pickles and Olives: If they’re swimming in brine and sealed tight, pickles are generally safe at room temp for short periods. But once opened, keep them in the fridge for max crunch and freshness. The same goes for olives, just make sure they’re always submerged in liquid. For best freshness, refrigerated pickles in brine should be eaten within one to three months after they’ve been opened, but canned olives should be eaten within two weeks. Salad Dressing: If your dressing was sold cold, it should stay cold even before opening. Once that seal is broken, creamy dressings last about a month and vinaigrettes a little longer. Unopened creamy or vinaigrette salad dressing that weren’t sold cold can stay ok in the pantry for up to six months, but they should be put in the fridge once you open them. Signs You're Struggling With Bore-Out Common signs experts say might indicate you’re experiencing boreout include: Feeling uninterested in tasks and mentally checked out Faking being busy to look productive Seeing no opportunity for growth or promotion Spending time on non-work activities like scrolling or taking extra-long breaks Making careless mistakes, feel sluggish, and question your value at work Isolating from coworkers and experience low mood or apathy To fix boreout, experts suggest: Acknowledging the problem — Recognizing boreout is the first step toward change Talking to your manager — Ask for new challenges or more meaningful responsibilities Adding variety — Volunteer for different projects or collaborate with new people Gamifying your tasks — Turn boring work into a competition with yourself or coworkers Changing your environment — If possible, mix up your routine or workspace Reconnecting with others — Build relationships beyond small talk to boost engagement Second Date Update Declan and Taylor got coffee in Sausalito, then took a drive through the Marin Headlands. Parenting Habits That Other Parents Judge Letting her kids run wild in public - Some moms let their kids climb on furniture, run around stores and yell in restaurants, and they definitely get the side-eye for it. Pretending that her kids are perfect - We all brag about our little ones, but no kid is perfect and acting like yours has no flaws is bound to make people roll their eyes. Over-posting her kids online - There’s nothing wrong with sharing milestones of your family’s life, but documenting every little thing can be too much. Letting her kids interrupt adult conversations - Kids deserve to be seen and heard, but that doesn’t mean they should be constantly interrupting people talking. Using her kids as an excuse for everything - Sure, life is hectic with kids, but they can’t be the reason you’re late for everything or always back out of commitments. Publicly shaming or harshly disciplining her kids - Hitting, shaming or embarrassing your kid in front of other people is emotionally damaging. Ignoring her child’s bad behavior - Enabling your kid when they misbehave isn’t doing them any favors. If you don’t correct them when they’re rude, aggressive or entitled because you think it’s okay for your child to behave that way, don’t be surprised when people judge you harshly for it.⠀ Things Relaxed People Do Shake off self-doubt Own everything that’s happened to them Indulge in a daily pleasure Master their mind Turn off the news Accept people as they are Refuse to indulge in drama Pay close attention to their mood Ask one question every single day Social Dilemma On IG Lauren on Instagram DMs writes: My boss follows me on social media and likes my old photos, sometimes comments on vacation pics, and even once referenced a post during a meeting. The second exercise is called tension release. You breathe in calmly, then as you breathe out, you tighten up your whole body. Then you breathe in again and relax everything. Making your body tense on purpose and then letting it go helps your mind feel more relaxed too. Phillips also suggests "shaking it out" while brushing your teeth - start by shaking your bottom, then let the shake move up through your whole body. See me perform these exercises on the IG. Happiest Shift Workers America’s most cheerful hourly employees are selling vapes, weed, and smokes, according to a new report. Over 1.51 million end-of-shift survey responses paint a less-than-ideal picture of the state of the union for wage workers. While the Net Happiness Score — the report’s metric for general workplace wellbeing — clocked in fairly high at 71.86%. The happiest industry sector turned out to be e-cigarette and marijuana stores, with 91.87% of employees saying they feel “good” or “amazing” about their jobs. They’re closely followed by caterers, baristas, dentists, and those who work in gyms, firearms stores, and sit-down restaurants. Successful Couples Do These 4 Things In The AM Couples should say hello to each other in the morning. That tells your partner "I see you. You're alive. I'm alive. I appreciate you." Second, successful couples make small loving gestures for each other. This might mean making coffee for your partner, putting out their robe, or setting up their breakfast bowl. Third, they spend a few minutes together in the morning, even if it's just having coffee. It reminds them that even when the day gets stressful, they need to make time for what really matters. Finally, successful couples include physical affection like a kiss or hug before leaving for work. This releases feel-good hormones like oxytocin, which strengthens their bond and makes them want to grow closer together. Second Date Update: Nate and Brianna met on Hinge. My Girlfriend's Apartment Is Giving Me Anxiety How would you handle this? You want to move in with your girlfriend, but she has a ton of knick-knacks, plants and just plain stuff. He is a minimalist and feels like he couldn't move in with her if she didn't at least get rid of half of it. No Makeup On The First Date In general, Gen Z has trended towards skipping out on classic date nights like traditional dinners and drinks in favor of more adventurous, active ventures like ocean swims, yoga sessions, or rock climbing. These activities allow potential paramours to get to know each other without the pressure of sitting across from each other and talking for hours on end — though eventually, there comes a point in a relationship where this is necessary. The latest move to ease the tension and anxiety of a first date ? No makeup, a la Pamela Anderson. Both Millennials and Gen Zers have taken to the Internet to share their experiences with the movement, and overall, they’re psyched about their new looks, and the confidence boosts it can — potentially, as @ madisonoud pointed out — bring with it. (No thanks, Tom Hanks) Looking Good Vs Feeling Good Along the same vein, people are saying that feeling healthy makes them feel attractive. Exercising and eating well, give the confidence a boost. Let me guess, you should cut ut alcohol? Booooooo. Second Date Update Jordan and Elise met at a birthday party. They discover they love puzzles, so they go to an Escape Room for their first date. Americans Are Struggling To Get Off The Couch. Maybe it shouldn't be so comfy. Americans just aren’t as active as they used to be pre-pandemic, according to a new study. It finds that we’re still logging about six hours of sitting time today, the same as it was in 2021. It seems the technology we started using during lockdown, like Zoom meetings and delivery apps are to blame for us being so sedentary. Red Flags You Are Getting Scammed Between AI, texts, DM's...scams are around every corner. Emergency Overload: Scammers love to trigger your panic response with emergencies like“Your grandson’s in jail!” or “You owe the IRS!” and that’s because freaked-out people don’t ask questions. Too Fast, Too Furious: That “limited-time offer” or urgent request? It's likely a scam in disguise. Whether it’s fake tech support asking for authorization or a “can’t-miss” investment, scammers know pressure equals poor decisions. New Number Who This?: Just met someone who suddenly needs cash? Yikes. Badge of Deception: If an “officer,” “lawyer,” or “FBI agent” you’ve never met is suddenly in your business, it’s probably a con. They Ask You To Pay? You Say “No Way!”: If someone’s asking you to pay with a gift card, crypto, or Venmo for tech support or bail money, run. Tips To Make Yourself Instantly Likeable Image – Present yourself as a “person worth knowing” by looking clean, put together, wearing clothes that accentuate your positive vibes and intentions, and pay attention to the body language you’re emitting Authenticity – People can sniff out insincerity a mile away…and they’re way more attracted to someone who is authentic and the real deal Empathy – There aren’t enough people in this world willing to show they give a damn about more than themselves and their self-interest. Taking a genuine interest in others makes them feel special and cared about Positivity – We can all agree there’s too much negative crap out there, so don’t contribute to it…people flock to positivity Speak Like You Want To Lead – Stay away from slang and cursing, remember names, and don’t be afraid of sincere compliments Leave A Better World – Leave people smiling, and leave them laughing, inspired, and eager for their next experience with you What We Love About Summer This is according a survey of 2000 adults. Habits People Picked Up After Visiting Other Countries A post in the travel subreddit asks, “What’s something you adopted into your lifestyle after visiting another country?” Nearly a thousand Redditors responded with the habits and products they’ve added to their routine after learning about them while traveling abroad. From a bidet discovered in Japan to individual comforters for each partner after a trip to Denmark, these things are now a part of travelers’ lives. Worst Pick-Up Lines For Online Dating “Hey” or “Hi” - Nothing screams generic laziness like typing two or two three letters and nothing else. “You’re hot” - Some people may consider this a compliment, but it’s objectifying and inappropriate for a first message, and it shows no respect. “What are you doing right now?” - You wouldn’t greet a stranger in a bar like this, so don’t do it online either. “Why are you on here?” - there’s no point in asking this, as it sounds kind of judgy and can make someone defensive. Quiet Firing There are some clear signs of quiet firing and these are the most common, according to HR and career experts. Being excluded from meetings - If you’re suddenly not invited to meetings you were once a key part of, that’s a serious red flag they may be passively letting you go. Shifting responsibilities - Sudden changes in your workload, whether they’re piling it on with unrealistic goals or sticking you with meaningless projects, that could be a bad sign. If you get vague or no answers, that’s a red flag. Support decreases - They may pull back on support, leaving you feeling abandoned or alone, and making it tougher to handle your workload. If you feel like it’s unbearable and you just can’t do it, then you’ll quit and that’s the idea. Development stops - If your future at the company used to be discussed, but now you’re passed over for promotions or raises for no apparent reason, that’s a clear sign of quiet firing. And in some cases, this can drag on for years. Policy-driven quiet firing - Employees being required to return to the office can be a form of quiet firing, as some employers expect some workers to decide to leave the company instead. Second Date Update Damon met Bridget online. They both games of any kind from cards to cornhole. They picked a board game cafe to have their first date. Now, she has ghosted.…

Meditation and breathwork - Even five minutes of meditation can help boost energy, quiet mental noise and help with focus. Vocal vibe shift - the practice of just humming, singing or light vocalizing, which stimulates the vagus nerve and regulates the nervous system. Cold water - Splash a little cold water on your face to boost mood, help with alertness, improve focus, and even boost stress tolerance. Hobbies That Make Men More Attractive Reading Learning a foreign language Playing a musical instrument Cooking Woodworking Painting Writing Gardening Swimming Photography Handwashing Is More Important In Summer Using public restrooms and shared toilets - Whether it’s at an outdoor festival, a gas station stop during a road trip, or a beach bathroom, these high-traffic areas can be breeding grounds for bacteria like E. coli, salmonella, coronavirus and more. Cooking and eating outside - Barbecues and picnics are a lot of fun, but if food is left out in the sun or meat isn’t cooked thoroughly, someone could easily end up with food poisoning. Swimming and water play - Lakes, rivers, swimming pools and oceans can all contain harmful germs and parasites, which can be resistant to chlorine. Beach sand and seawater can even carry fecal bacteria. Camps, playgrounds and festivals - Kids are at higher risk of infection during the summer thanks to group settings like summer camps, playgrounds and soft play centers. But doesn’t getting dirty help build kids’ immune systems? - Yes, early exposure to natural microbes in soil, from animals or the environment can help support immune development, but this isn’t the same as skipping handwashing after using the toilet or preparing food. Knowing the answer to a quiz show Discovering when you go to pay for something it’s actually discounted Making someone laugh with a perfectly timed joke Sailing through multiple green traffic lights in a row Ticking off everything on your to-do list Catching something which has been thrown at you quickly Fixing a tech issue for someone Life Before My Spouse/ My Kids As much as you love your significant other, what is something you miss from being single: The lack of responsibility and obligations. The rush of 'firsts' — that first date rush/nervous feeling. Holding hands for the first time, first kisses, the first time having sex with someone. Not ever having to be accountable for random stuff I do around my own house. Being able to come home from work and not speak a single word. Deciding on what to have for dinner without a second opinion. Side Hustles That Could Lead To Full Time Work According to a recent Gallup poll , more than 60% of Americans want to be their own boss. While a full-time job pays the bills and has benefits, it doesn’t give you the freedom to be in charge, and that’s what makes side hustles so appealing to some people. Tour guide - Being passionate about parts of your city and knowing how to show people around is the key and you can use sites like Facebook, Upwork and Viator to market yourself. Why We Forget Things...AKA Brain Fog Medications - Drugs known to impact memory include (anxiety meds like Xanax and Valium, statins (used to control cholesterol), anti-seizure meds, beta blockers, antidepressants, opioids and a certain class of sleeping pills. Depression or anxiety - When you’re depressed, your brain is not working at 100%. It’s not paying attention to things as well as it usually does, and the memory areas are not doing what they usually do. Diet - Research links ultraprocessed foods with cognitive decline and an increased risk of dementia. Sleep - Not getting enough sleep can make it harder to concentrate, learn new things and create new memories, according to the National Institutes of Health . Trouble hearing - New research suggests a connection between hearing loss and brain health, but hearing aids can help. The study links hearing aids with a 19% lower risk of long-term cognitive decline. Multitasking - Being distracted affects your ability to focus and remember things, and one study finds that multitaskers often have trouble recalling information. And they were young people. Restuarant Red Flags It’s dirty The place is empty - If it’s a Monday night, this isn’t concerning, but if the dining room is empty during peak hours on a weekend... There’s no management presence - Managers are visible in the dining room, greeting customers, talking to tables and helping servers when needed, but if you can’t tell who’s in charge, it might be because no one is. It’s overloaded with social media influencers - Sure, they can help get people in the door, but they might be getting special treatment and freebies to promote a restaurant. The staff argues with you - Mistakes will be made, but staff members should own it and try to make it up to you when that happens. It doesn’t matter how good the food is, if the staff argues with you, it ruins the experience. Servers don’t know the menu - It shows poor training and “a lack of pride in the product.” You’re being upsold aggressively - When it feels like a script or they’re harassing you, it’s a sign the restaurant is struggling and doesn’t care about hospitality as much as sales. New Cheating Emojis According to private investigator Paul Jones from ARF Private Investigators, there are some random, innocent-looking emojis that aren’t really so innocent. Jones says that if you find your partner texting the croissant or padlock emojis, they’re probably cheating on you. “On the surface, it might look innocent, but there’s usually a deeper meaning,” Jones explained. “We’ve had people using a croissant emoji as a way of saying ‘meet me for breakfast,’ or the letter emoji as a subtle ‘text me when you’re free.'” Second Date Update Dean and Ariel met on Hinge, and after a fun back-and-forth over messaging, they decided to meet in person. The Right Amount of Cyberstalking Experts say this is how to decide on the right amount of pre-first-date research: Focus on sensible “cyberstaling” - Start with verifying what you already know about them. Confirm they work where they say they do by checking out their LinkedIn and get a feel for their personality by scrolling through their Instagram. When it becomes overkill - Things like running a paid background check or combing their social media profiles to do a deep dive into their past and looking at their ex’s tagged photos are definitely too much. Check for red flags - Not having an online footprint is a major one. Even if they don’t like social media, most people have a LinkedIn profile, if they don’t and you feel like something is off, you may want to reconsider meeting up in person. Don’t overprepare - This is a date, not a job interview, so don’t spoil the genuine way you get to know someone by researching more than you need to. Feeling Financially Comfortable We are not talking annual salary, this is total. Americans don’t need a million dollars to be financially comfortable, just $839-thousand will do it, according to new research from Charles Schwab. Their survey reveals that figure is much lower than the $2.3-million people consider wealthy. When asked to define what “wealthy” means to them, respondents’ top three are happiness (45%), “amount of money I have” (44%) and physical health (37%).
