Spencer and Josh are going all the way back to 2001 and rewatching the classic Stalingrad, sniper battle war flick, Enemy at the Gates. A resonance of very well-made war films came out in this time period. The boom started off with Saving Private Ryan and then all kinds of other films and video games. Like Pearl Harbor, Medal of Honor, We Were Soldiers, Call of Duty, and of course Enemy at the Gates. Which may be one of the top tier choices, besides the odd British accents in the film for the Russian soldiers.

We also end up reminiscing about High School stories because that was one of the places we first saw this film was when a teacher brough in Enemy at the Gates on VHS when it came out to show the class as part of WW2 and Soviet History. This leads into all kinds of other goofy shenanigans adventures too. As well as when Josh first saw this movie on a Cruise ship, when that was a thing. Good times.

Enemy at the Gates (2001) is a war drama set during the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II. It follows the story of Vasily Zaitsev, a Soviet sniper whose deadly precision makes him a symbol of hope for the Russian people. As his legend grows, the Germans send Major König, their own top marksman, to eliminate him, leading to a tense and psychological game of cat-and-mouse between the two snipers. Amid the chaos of war, Vasily also navigates a complex relationship with a fellow soldier and love interest, Tania. The film explores themes of heroism, propaganda, and the human cost of war.

We break it all down in this spoiler-filled discussion! Then get sidetracked as usual with other movies, games, and life stories. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more deep dives into fascinating films.
