Content forms often compete against each other - think long-form vs short-form content. Which one is better for social media marketing? In this episode, I am joined by Margarette (Maggie) Leandre, a social media strategist and e-mail marketer and Deanna Jade Duxbury, a Brand content and global social media manager. We explore the benefits and disadvantages of both forms of content and how they play a role in your overall social media objective.

What to expect;

  1. Definition: long-form and short-form
  2. Monetization/Income
  3. Virality vs ROI
  4. Content and SEO
  5. Social media platform accessibility

What are the benefits of long-form content?

Long-form content has several advantages over short-form content. First, it allows you to go into greater depth on a topic. This can be helpful if you want to establish yourself as an expert on a particular subject. Additionally, long-form content tends to be more evergreen than short-form content. This means that it will continue to be relevant and useful long after publication.

What are the benefits of short-form content?

Short-form content has a few advantages over long-form content. First, it's easier to produce. This means that you can publish more content more quickly, which can help you to keep your social media channels updated regularly. Additionally, short-form content is generally more engaging than long-form content. This is because it's easier to consume and typically more visually appealing.

So, which type of content should you use for social media marketing?

The answer is that it depends on your goals. If you want to establish yourself as an expert, long-form content is a great option. Short-form content is a better choice if you're looking to produce engaging and visually appealing content quickly. And if you're looking for flexibility, short-form content is the way to go.
