Welcome to The Daily Quote — a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for April 27th. Today is National Tell a Story Day — a day that encourages you to dust off your imagination, sharpen your wit, and maybe exaggerate just a tiny bit more than usual... all in the name of storytelling. Whether it's a grand epic or just that suspiciously heroic tale about how you "almost caught a fish this big," today’s the perfect day to share it. To celebrate, today’s quote comes from the legendary storyteller himself, Rudyard Kipling, who once said:

"If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten."

Now, that I believe is true. The history lessons I remember are all the stories, not the dates and the events.

Stories stick with you — they’re how you remember life lessons, the heartbreaks, the victories, and, of course, the humiliating moments you swear your family will bring up forever. Kipling’s point is a simple but powerful reminder: facts and figures might fade, but a story — a real, emotional, messy, vivid story — will etch itself into your memory.

Today, as you think about what tales you could tell, remember: you don’t have to be Shakespeare or J.K. Rowling. All you need is a moment worth sharing and the courage to tell it. Preferably with just the right amount of dramatic pauses and wild hand gestures.

So, what’s your story today? And more importantly — will it be one they’ll never forget? That is it for today. I’m Andrew McGivern, signing off for today, but I'll be back tomorrow. Same pod time, same pod station for another Daily Quote.
